14-Day Vietnam Summer Holiday
Day 1: Hanoi Arrival (D)
Welcome upon arrival in Hanoi by local tour guide and driver at the airport, then we transfer to hotel in the center of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Checking in and relax in the rest of the day.
In the evening, we enjoy our welcome dinner at a fine local restaurant in town. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi City Tour (B)
After breakfast, we will meet the tour guide and start our city tour during the morning and drive to Ho Chi Minh Complex, where we will spend a couple of hours to visit Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, his former stilt-house residence, the Presidential Palace, the Ho Chi Minh museum and One-pillar pagoda. Keep going to see the Temple of Literature - originally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam’s first university dating back to 1070. The temple highlights the importance that Vietnamese society placed then and now on education.
In the afternoon, we will visit one of the most interesting museums in Vietnam - Museum of Ethnology, which is widely acknowledged as the best in the country and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic minority people.
After that, get back to the city center where we take one-hour cyclo around the Hanoi Old Quarter, known as the 36 streets, this bustling area of narrow streets is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. Before going back to the hotel, take a chance to enjoy the unique Water Puppet show to know Vietnamese traditional instruments and singing from the live musicians who play throughout the show. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay (overnight on deluxe junk cruise) (B, L, D)
In the morning, we will have breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. Then depart to Halong Bay. At around 11:30, arrive at Tuan Chau Jetty, we stop at Pelican Café Lounge, relax then take a tender to Pelican cruise.
Boarding and check-in with a welcome drink, then the cruise starts through Cho Da, Dinh Huong, Ga Choi, and Hoa Cuong limestone islets while lunch is served on board. Then visit Sung Sot Grotto, the “Cave of Surprises”, before taking a swim in Titov Beach or Soi Sim Beach’s pristine waters. The vessel then cruises further to reach its overnight anchorage location near Ho Dong Tien or Luon Cave.
Enjoy the sunset from the sundeck or while swimming; then dinner will be served on board. The evening is devoted to relaxing in that peaceful piece of a setting, or to experience night-fishing from the boat’s deck. Overnight on board.
Day 4: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B, L)
Wake up early amidst Halong Bay and practicing a Tai Chi session on the sun deck at dawn, while the Natural Wonder around you is slowly waking up! Then have breakfast at the cruise’s restaurant at around 7:30. Take a small boat to visit Luon Cave and other amazing caves in Halong Bay. Lunch is served on board while the cruise goes back to Halong City for disembarking at noon time. Arrive in Hanoi in the afternoon.
Day 5: Hanoi – Fly to Danang & Transfer to Hoi An (B)
After breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, we transfer to the airport at 9 am for short domestic flight to Danang. Welcome upon arrival in Danang by local tour guide and driver, then we transfer to Hoi An, the ancient town of Vietnam along with the romantic beauty of colorful streets, for check-in and relax.
In the afternoon, we enjoy walking tour to visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Pottery Museum, Tan Ky old house, the Cantonese congregation, the silk street of Hoi An, the temples and pagodas of Chinese appearance. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 6: Hoi An Cooking Class (B, L or D after cooking class)
Today we enjoy morning or afternoon cooking class tour at the Red Bridge cooking school of Hoi An. Visit Hoi An market to interact with the local sellers and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. Then take a boat along the Hoi An river to Red Bridge Cooking School.
Explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, we sit down and eat exactly what we have cooked.
Free at leisure in the rest of the day. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 7: Hoi An Farmer & Fishing Tour (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, we meet tour guide then cycle to a local farming village traveling along picturesque country roads to experience absolutely interesting activities
- Share in the daily work life of local farmers – hoeing and a soil, watering veggie at an organic herb garden, riding water buffalo in the field and enjoy the freshest air of the countryside beauty.
- Board the Hoi An Eco-tour boat and cruise to the mouth of the river where it meets the Cua Dai Sea
- Learn and try our hand at local traditional fishing techniques using round and cast nets
- Learn to paddle the strange and unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boats
- Explore the now tranquil coconut-palm flanked waterways of a past war and hear of the extreme conditions endured by soldiers on both sides. Have a relaxed fun with catching beautiful purple crabs on bamboo basket boat.
- Visit a local water coconut palm village, take a walk around the village and have some tea and snack with local talks...
- Then, back on-board our Hoi An Eco-tour boat, enjoy lunch and cold beer or soft drink.
13.30: End of the trip. The rest of the day is your leisure. Overnight in Hoi An
Day 8: Hoi An – Danang – Fly to Nha Trang (B)
After our breakfast at hotel’s restaurant at around 6:30, transfer back to Danang for short flight to Nha Trang. Welcome upon arrival in Nha Trang by local tour guide and driver, we transfer to hotel in the beach city – the home of the top beaches in Vietnam. Relax at beach in the rest of the day. Overnight in Nha Trang.
Day 9: Nha Trang Beach Break (B)
It is your leisure time to enjoy wonderful moments at Nha Trang beaches.
Day 10: Nha Trang – Island & Snorkeling Tour (B, L)
After breakfast, we will transfer to Cau Da port, take a boat to visit Tri Nguyen Aquarium on Mieu Island where many sea species of Nha Trang/Khanh Hoa province make a small ocean world. Mun Island is the best island for snorkeling where we can see lots of lives colorful corals and fish. We will also be able to see caves in which the sea swallows make their nest. Then relax, swim and do water sports or other activities at Mot Island, Tranh Beach Island or on a small island calling “Mini beach”. Take a fresh lunch on the island. On the way back we will visit a fishing village before going to the shore.
16:00: Return to hotel and relax
Day 11: Nha Trang – Fly to Ho Chi Minh City (B)
After breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, transfer to the airport again to take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City, the largest and interesting city in Southern Vietnam. Welcome upon arrival by local tour guide and driver, we transfer to hotel in the center city. Relax in the rest of the day visit Ben Thanh market.
Day 12: Ho Chi Minh City Tour & Cu Chi Tunnels (B)
After our breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, we transfer to the Cu Chi tunnels – a witness of US-Vietnam war, otherwise known as the “Iron Triangle” or “Iron Land”. On our way there we will drive through the pleasant countryside; rubber plantations and rice paddies. Before entering the tunnels, we will see a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, followed by an exploration of the maze of tunnels, some of which have been widened to allow tourist access. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank, as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500lb bombs, dropped by B52 bombers.
In the afternoon, return to the city to visit the Reunification Palace, the former Presidential Palace for the president of the South of Vietnam. After that, we will visit the War Remnant Museum, where we can see countless artifacts, photographs, and pictures documenting the second Indochina war. We also stop at Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post office to get good shots for our memory of the big, modern city of Vietnam.
Day 13: Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh Long & Can Tho MK7 (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, check out and depart for Vinh Long. Start biking to visit Phuoc Hau village, which is famous for vegetable plantations. We can see the process of planting, watering, harvesting…Then, continue to have the wonderful boat trip to Can Tho. First stop at Cau Doi (double bridge) – Long Ho to visit a busy boatyard where locals are building boats and sampans…
Have a short break in Ba Lang at a local house, walk to the rice field with an opportunity to see how the locals have a rice harvest; see how people are waving strong paper or bamboo to produce handicraft fruit plates. Keep on going to Ba Cang. Have a special lunch on boat.
In the afternoon, we have one-hour biking and visiting My Hoa village where people are making many products from soya beans and tofu. Have some snack and drink when crossing Lower River to come to Ninh Kieu quay of Cantho city. Check in hotel and relax in Can Tho city.
Day 14: Can Tho - Cai Rang Floating Market – Chau Doc (B)
Early morning, we take a boat trip to visit the Cai Rang floating market with the busy sense right at the time. Then we keep on cruising through the small channels system, visit the rice noodles making a village. Back to hotel for breakfast
09:00: we transfer to Chau Doc where we will be relaxed before taking a boat trip to Phnom Penh at 7 AM the next day.
The 4-Day Cambodia Summer Holiday
Day 15: Chau Doc – Boat Trip to Phnom Penh (B)
06:00 – 07:00: Breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and check out then take the speed boat to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia within 5 hours.
Welcome upon arrival in Phnom Penh and we transfer to the hotel. Then we visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, National Museum and Wat Phnom. Overnight in Phnom Penh
Day 16: Phnom Penh Tour (B)
Today, we visit the Genocide Museum then head on to the Killing Fields. On the way to the Killing fields, we stop at the bustling market of Toul Tumpong also known as the Russian Market.
The afternoon we visit the Independent monument and the Victoria monument. Later in the afternoon, we enjoy the sunset boat cruise on the Mekong River. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 17: Phnom Penh – Fly to Siem Reap (B)
After breakfast, we transfer to the airport to take a flight to Siem Reap, the ancient capital of Cambodia under the Angkor dynasty. Welcome upon arrival in Siem Reap, we transfer to hotel and relax.
14:00 – 18:00: we visit West Barray (the man-made lake built in the 11th century) and the silk farm. Then we climb to the summit of Bakheng Mountain or Pre Rup Temple to view a spectacular sunset. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 18: Angkor Temple Complex (B)
Today, after breakfast, we visit Angkor Thom – the great city of the ancient Khmer empire. The visit includes the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon and the picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of a tree, pushing between the huge stone blocks of the temple in a sort of embrace, evoke feelings that a visitor may remember forever.
14:00: we visit Angkor Wat – one of the wonders of the world. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 19: Siem Reap Departure (B)
We are free until transfer to the hotel. 19-Day Vietnam and Cambodia holiday ends
