Full Itinerary
Day 1: Luang Prabang Arrival (L, D)
Upon arrival at the airport, then transfer to your hotel. After a short rest, visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. Explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the hill tribes and local people surrounding Luang Prabang.
The Night Market of Luang Prabang opens from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm every day. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 2: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave (B, L, D)
Today, enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temples of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Wat Sene and Wat Xiengthong are two Buddhist temples, regarded as “the temple of 100,000 treasures” and “monastery of Luang Prabang golden city” respectively. These are the most representative temples in Luang Prabang and the top symbols of Buddhism in Laos.
Then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as exploring the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. Along the way, stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where the local rice wine is produced. It is a unique experience in our Luang Prabang tour to discover the local specialties in Ban Xanghai which is known as “Whiskey village” in Luang Prabang city.
On return, take a short drive to another small village Ban Phanom, which famous for its hand weaving. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang Departure (B)
Today, visit the National Museum at the former Royal Palace. It displays a collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through to the last sovereign. There will also be time for us to look around the Central Market. After visiting these sights in the morning, there may be free time (depending on your flight) to venture into town and stroll around the shopping area. 3 days in Luang Prabang ends after your transfer to the airport for departure.
Note: The Royal Palace of Luang Prabang opens daily from 8:00 to 11:30 in the morning and from 13:30 to 16:00 in the evening.
