Aiming to improve direct flights between Cambodia and Russia, two countries signed an air transport accord.
Russia tourists who wish to visit Cambodia must fly via neighboring nations of Vietnam or Thailand since Russia’s national airline, Aeroflot, ended flights between Moscow and Phnom Penh in the early 1990s.
The vice chief executive of Cambodia Angkor Airlines – Lim Kao claimed that this is the favorable opportunity to attract more Russia tourists coming to the kingdom.
However, he said CAA would target Russian tourists with more flights to Vietnam, from its Phnom Penh base once there was enough demand and it intends to start a new flight from Cam Ranh Bay in southeast Vietnam to Siem Reap next year.
