Vietnam Triumphs At The 2024 World Travel Awards

At the 31st World Travel Awards (WTA), Vietnam has garnered a series of prestigious accolades, including being named Asia’s Leading Destination, along with two special awards for Hanoi.

HÀ NỘI – Vietnam has garnered a series of prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA), including being named Asia’s Leading Destination and receiving two special awards for Hà Nội.

Vietnam was recognized as Asia’s Leading Destination, Leading Heritage Destination, and Leading Nature Destination. Hà Nội also earned accolades as the Leading City and Leading City Break Destination at the 31st annual WTA.

Ho Chi Minh City won titles as Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination and Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination.

This marks the sixth time in seven years that Vietnam has been honored as Asia’s Leading Destination, surpassing contenders such as China, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

The awards were presented during a ceremony in Manila, Philippines, on September 3. Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism was named Asia’s Leading City Tourist Board for the second time, and Quảng Nam Tourism received the title of Asia’s Leading Regional Tourist Board.

Hội An, a UNESCO World Heritage site, won the Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination award for the fifth consecutive year, having also won in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Mộc Châu, known as Vietnam’s ‘green tourism gem,’ was named Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination for 2024.

Hà Giang, the northernmost province, made its debut as Asia’s Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2024, while Hà Nam was recognized for the first time as Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2024. Cúc Phương National Park in Ninh Bình achieved the title of Asia’s Leading National Park for the sixth consecutive time since 2019.

Cúc Phương Park outperformed global competitors, including Japan’s Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, Nepal’s Chitwan National Park, Sri Lanka’s Minnieriya National Park, Malaysia’s Kinabalu and Taman Negara National Parks, and Vietnam’s Cát Tiên National Park.

Nguyễn Văn Chính, Director of Cúc Phương National Park, highlighted that the award not only motivates the management team but also signifies the appreciation from both domestic and international communities for over 60 years of dedicated efforts by park staff. The award acknowledges the contributions of the local community, scientists, and millions of visitors.

Additionally, numerous Vietnamese brands in hotels, resorts, airlines, and travel agencies were honored in various WTA 2024 categories.
