Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh Long (Home-stay) (L, D)
This morning, we travel to Vinh Long town where we visit the local market before boating to the islands in Mekong Delta. There are many photo opportunities at the market such as fish, shrimps, prawn, crabs, snakes, rice-field rats, tropical fruits, vegetable and the farmers who are selling their farming products…
The boat takes us the brick kilns, we can see how the local people creating beautiful potteries from clay; and then we stop at a nursery garden, enjoy some kinds of seasonal fruits and home-made wine rice…After that, we take rowing boat to deeper into the countryside on a smaller canals to enjoy peaceful time, seeing traditional made of wood and palm tree leave houses and deal with the local farmers with their daily working life.
After lunch at a local house, we check in home-stay, enjoy fruits, tea and traditional music at home-stay. Continuing our afternoon activities by biking along the village paths, seeing local farmers, farms, houses, real life and ancestral ways to pick up fruits in Mekong delta. Later today, we join cooking demonstration with the owners, chatting with them and relax at peaceful home-stay. Overnight in Vinh Long home-stay.
Day 2: Cai Be Town – Ho Chi Minh City (B)
We get up early this morning for our quick breakfast then boat to Cai Be town. It is ideal time to visit this oldest town from 6am to 8am every day.
After the market, we can stop at local workshops to see rice paper, coconut candy, pop-rice, pop-corn being made. Before leaving back to Ho Chi Minh city, we also visit the handicraft village of rice-net making for spring rolls, fish sauce, soya bean sauce, cooking salt, sewing coconut-leaves for cottage roof…. The boat takes us back to Cai Be town and our awaiting vehicle transfer us back to hotel in Ho Chi Minh city. Trip ends.
