After the terraced fields were harvested, yellow color of terraced fields is replaced by pink of the Tam Giac Mach (buckwheat) flower fields.
Nowhere in Vietnam can you find Tam Giac Mach flower like mountainous provinces in the North of Vietnam such as Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Ha Giang. Tam Giac Mach flower in Ha Giang, however, is planted much and most beautiful. The late fall (during November each year) is the time that this flower blooms and has the most beautiful color.
Petals bunched up into a cone shape, the triangle has three sides. So the name “Tam Giac Mach” was born. Despite of its fragility, Tam Giac Mach possesses endless beauty, and inspires many photographers.
During the tam giac mach flower season, Ha Giang floats with carpets of flowers. A large number of tourists are fascinated by the alluring and irresistible sight of purple pink petals. Triangular flowers are grown after every rice harvest. In the past, seeds were used to make bread and wine. Nowadays Tam Giac Mach seeds are used to feed livestock, and in traditional medicine as herb. When November comes, many people, especially the youth, travel hundreds of kilometers just to soak in the fanciful space, and captivates with pink of the buckwheat flower fields.
