The Royal Tomb of Minh Mang on Cam Ke mount, on the west bank of the Perfume River, 12 km far from the city center is the final resting place of one of the Nguyen Dynasty’s staunchest Confucians.
He started constructing the tomb in 1804; however, he did not live to complete it. When the construction was in the middle of implementing, the Emperor was sick and passed away. His son had completed the tomb for him.
The Minh Mang tomb is the stunning combination of landscaping and architecture that is unmatched among the tombs in Hue. A complex of 40 monuments in various sizes littering from Dai Hon Gate to the foot of La Thanh is the great reflection of the emperor’s staunch traditionalism.
