Mentioning Ly Son Island, people referred to a small kingdom of garlic as it is famous for high-quality garlic. However, nowadays, Ly Son is also called the pearl, Maldives of Vietnam because of the charming beauty of ancient temples, magnificent mountains and creamy sand beaches.
Location
Ly Son Island nestled in Quang Ngai Province, is far from Da Nang 133 km, from Hoi An 118 km. The nearest airport to the island is Chu Lai airport. If you want to visit Ly Son Island, head to Sa Ky Port and take over 1-hour ferry speed boat. From Quang Ngai downtown, you can come to the port by public transport (the bus number 3 at the Quang Ngai Bus Station) or by motorbike.
Before get a boat to the island, you need to go to the police station outside the port and register your ID to buy ticket. The ticket for the boat is about 115.000 VND. If you have a motorbike, pay 50.000 VND more for your motorbike ticket. Because tickets are finishing very fast, you should by ticket as early as possible, and find for yourself a comfortable seat.
Activities
Ly Son Island has two islands: the Big and the Small islands. You will stop at the Big Island first; and reach the Small one by boat. To cover all the best of the Big Island, you can rent a scooter (100.000 VND/day) or a bicycle to go around the island.
Of course, the Small one has more things for you to explore as it is uninhabited with glamorous sandy beaches and crystal water. You can see the crabs and marine inhabitants. Also, it is home to 50 ancient small and big temples, shrines like Chua Hang Pagoda which lies in the rock by the sea, or Dinh Liem Tu Pagoda, Dinh Ly Hai church, and a good collection of monuments and memorials in the island. Nothing is better than riding and marveling at sunset on the island and magnificent landscapes.
