Calligraphy (Choi Chu).
Art form traditionally practiced by Confucian scholars as a spiritual discipline.
Calligraphy appears as inscriptions on stelae, parallel sentences on walls, and poems written on paper adorned with flowers and filigree clouds. Calligraphers admire both the strength of the pen-brush (can, but luc) and the writer’s style (cot). The Chinese distinguish six forms of calligraphy, of which the most common are trien (square writing for official seals), le (a kind of square writing), thao (sophisticated scribbling) and khai (ordinary characters).
Among the greatest Vietnamese calligraphers were Nguyen Cong Tru and Nguyen Du. See also Tet Calligraphy.

The Vietnamese art is very unique just as their fashion, calligraphy is very popular and there are quiet a number of calligraphers in Vietnam. This calligraphy’s look like the ones you see in Chinatown but are very different and peculiar to Vietnam.
